Bob Proctor Strikes Back on Nightline

Nightline's Cynthia McFadden introduces "The Secret," a top selling book that skeptics say it's wrong and dangerous. With 2 million copies of the book on re-order and 2 million DVD's sold, "The Secret" isn't a secret anymore.

Featuring clips of Joe Vitale, Bob Proctor and Lisa Nichols, Cynthia wonders if the basic idea of "The Secret" as simply thinking yourself abundant.

Going into the break, Cynthia teases us with The Secret true believers take on the skeptics. I guess Bob Proctor is THE True Believer.

Where is Rhonda Byrne? Why has she been refusing interviews, including theirs, since the Oprah show in February?

Now they show a clip of Rhonda saying how she wants to take this knowledge and share it with the world. I guess they were trying to be ironic. I guess Rhonda changed her mind.

Bob Proctor is introduced as one of the men Rhonda Byrne credits as a teacher and who appeared in the book, cd and the video. Cynthia seems surprised when Bob replied that he can call or email Rhonda anytime. Bob says that she's one of the nicest people he knows and how she's done a phenomenal job. (I love this next comment...)

"I find it amusing that anybody would criticise it," Bob says about "The Secret."

After showing the clip of Lisa Nichols saying, "Expect a check," Cynthia wonders how that works. Bob explains how he's not sure. "I don't think it happens like that. You have to shift your thinking. I reprogram my mind...bills go away. The Universe sends us what we're in harmony with."

Is action and working hard part of the Law of Attraction? "Is it or isn't it," Cynthia insists.Bob states that if a person thinks they can sit and it's all gonna happen, they're deluding themself. Way to get tough Bob.

When Cynthia asked about the cancer patient, Bob asked should a person image perfect health while the doctor's treating the body? I don't say you reject treatment.

"If I were diagnosed with cancer, I'd be the first to go and take whatever the doctor gave me," Bob admitted.

"I believe you can change any situation. I don't think there's anything you can't change," Bob said about the starving children issue.

"Experts say the book is potentially harmful to people," Cynthia states, as if the book were a nuclear device. I love Bob's response...

"Well, I think you talked to the wrong people."

To check on book sales, Cynthia and Bob walk into a Manhatten Barnes and Noble looking for the book. Sorry, sold out. How about the DVD? Seems they sell a Secret DVD every 15 minutes at $34.99 per.

That's 4 per hour, times 12 hours say.

That's almost 50 DVD'S per day in just that one store.
