by Emile Johnson

4th of July is approaching. It is a great time to celebrate the nation’s heritage. We all love to spend this great time with our family and friends. It is also time for you to teach your children about the country’s legacy. The easiest way to make them learn is through 4th of July Crafts.

There are a number of things they can learn. With the help of various craft works you can teach them the meanings of our Flag, Liberty Bell and many other things associated with the freedom movement. You will find a number of easy crafts for kids.

Hand Print Flag:

Hand Print Flag is one of the best crafts you can help your kids to do. While doing this you can discuss what is the meaning of the flag? You should also make them understand the significance of the stars and the connotation of the red and white stripes.

The materials you need to make the flag include:

• Blue rectangular piece of paper

• Blue, red and white construction paper

• Pen or pencil

• Glue

• Scissors

First take the red construction paper, draw stripes on it with the help of pen or pencil. Then cut it into pieces. Apply the same process with the white paper. Now help your child to draw as many stars as he/she wishes on the white paper. The next step is to cut them out.

Now take the red and white strips and glue them on the blue piece of paper horizontally. You should glue them in an alternative fashion means one red strip and one white strip. While you do this remember to leave a blue rectangle in the corner. Finally glue the stars on the blue rectangle and your flag is ready.

Fireworks on Paper:

This is another interesting piece of craft. The kids will surely love this craft work. While teaching them the method you can discuss about firework safety and they will learn it very easily. A few materials are needed to do this craft work.

The materials that you need include:

• Black construction paper (any other dark color will also do)

• Newspaper

• Glitter (golden or other colors)

• Glue

Spread the newspaper on the table or any other place where you are going to do the work. This will help you to clean up easily later. Place the black construction paper on it. Now spread the glue in various geometric shapes so that the different shapes resemble fireworks. Before the glue gets dry sprinkle the glitter over the top.

You can use more than one color to make the work of craft more beautiful and attractive. Continue the steps written above till you are satisfied. Slide the excess glitter. Now you will understand the importance of the newspaper. Don’t waste them. Put them back in the container so that you can use them later on.

Commemorating the Independence Day through meaningful 4th of July Crafts is really a great way to celebrate the country’s birth day. If you are wondering what type of craft you should do you can look for free craft ideas online.
