What Would a Psychic Ability Test Reveal About You?
by Meg TallonThroughout the course of history, humanity has always found fascination with those people who claim to possess psychic abilities. Cultures far and wide have always had long-standing traditions of folklore, seers, witches, soothsayers, shamans, mediums, and other religious officials. All societies from antiquity had people who could divine the future or otherwise interpret omens or had officials who were believed to have some form of extrasensory perception that allowed them to manipulate to information about the future.
The value of psychics in today's society is still very high despite the advances in modern science and the answers that it provides. Many industries seek out psychics, such as movies, television and book authors. Once a criminal case has exhausted all possible leads, for example, the case may become a psychic job as police and detectives search for more insight and clues.
Those with psychic abilities are also hired by those seeking guidance or advice for their personal life. This field, however, is also populated by slick con artists who charm vulnerable, grieving people and take advantage of them. Desperate people, even if they use a psychic ability test, can still be taken in by these scammers.
Parapsychology is a field of study that focuses on paranormal psychological phenomena and those that display paranormal abilities. These abilities can be classified by group. Then, the individuals are evaluated for the strength of the ability. There isn't one ultimate psychic ability test. However, numerous ESP tests exist and can adequately measure people's extrasensory perception skills.
A psychic ability test can be designed to check for telepathy, extrasensory perception abilities, or psychokinetic abilities. Since the ability to read thoughts or feelings, send thoughts or feelings, or control the minds of others without the use of physical senses could be highly useful, mental telepathy is a popular ability for science fiction and parapsychology tests. Two or more people can be asked to think of a series of colors or objects, and the degree to which their answers agree without any exchange of sensory information can indicate telepathic ability.
Clairvoyance, precognition or remote viewing abilities are detectable by certain methods of testing. A clairvoyant has the ability to know information about a site or event at a remote location. Precognitive abilities allow a person to know about an event or place before something occurs. Remote viewing is somewhat similar, since the person with this ability can see a location or event happen without being present.
Psychokinetic abilities make up the other group of psychic abilities that are often tested in study situations. Those abilities involve powers of mind over matter. Telekinesis moves objects or projects force using just the mind. Psychokinetic abilities can also control temperature, weather, or electrical energy.
