You will see hundreds of new projects at freelance sites which are posted everyday. Browse these projects and look for the ones that you think you can do. After that, place a bid on that project. Remember; always bid for the lowest. As you are a newbie.
Now after you place a bid on a project, always remember to send a private message to the owner of the project. This is extremely important to remember this point. If you don't contact the buyer via private messaging system that is available in freelance sites, then your chances of wining that project drops almost to Zero Percent.
Not sending private message or PM is very crucial mistake which is made by many new service providers. Actually, I also wasted my time, all because of not sending this PM. I never got a single project in the first few months. I was so disappointed.
As soon as I learn the art of sending PM, I started to get positive results. After struggling for first few months, I finally won a project that worth $30. It was a very simple translation job. I completed it in few hours and I was paid the very next day.
After placing bid on projects, send a message to the buyer. In this message, tell him why he should give this project to you. Tell him that you are hard working, and will do work with in the given time frame etc.
